My Awesome New Bathroom Faucet
Ode to a bathroom faucet: Oh beautiful and exceedingly functional faucet! My first one. I installed her a month after buying our first home. You could buy a cheap faucet, but then for hundreds of hours of your life you are stuck in front of squalid little taps, one after another as they sputter and break up. The added height makes it easier to bend over and drink or fill buckets and bottles. Simply swivel aside to utilize the entire sink with no jutting tap in the way. It can be swooshed back and forth to rinse the tidal flats of sink scum and toothpaste corners. The side mounted single valve means effortless remembrance of your favourite angles of warmth. A quick snap to back or front gives water pure hot or pure cold. A twitch of the elbow turns it off– you needn’t touch a dirty tap with clean hands. The “old” plastic faucet I removed was as light as an empty tin can; broken and not worth repairing after seven years of mediocre service. I purchased its weightier replacement on sale at Canadian Tire for $97 (regularly $140). To conclude where I began, it is wiser to buy one good faucet that gives joyful service for a lifetime than several incarnations of cheap ugly ones that are always breaking and sputtering. Some interpret this ode as a metaphor to recommend marriage. [The particular model of this faucet: Peerless (R) Single lever lavatory faucet 466-2101. Fits three hole sinks with 4″ centres, or single hole sinks. 1/2″ inlet (13mm). Internal features: solid brass …
